Photoshop has some preset frames that can be accessed in the Actions panel. Open your picture in Photoshop. Then at the top choose Window/Actions then click the arrow at the top right of the Actions panel to choose the built in Frames. There's also a couple of frames in the default Actions as well. Choose the frame type you want then click the Play Selection button at the bottom of the Action panel. Photoshop then does all the work to build a ready made frame around your picture.

Go to your Image Mode, and make sure you're in RGB or CMYK.

Also take a look at the Color Swatch Pallet sub menu. Confirm the colors you want are selected, or use it to reset your pallet.

i think setup files are missing or corrupted....

use original setup file to uninstall it , just run it as usual and it will show u the option of uninstall and repair ... check uninstall and proceed...

Hi, I really appreciate if somebody can answer this question:

I have a diamond image, which obviously has different shades in it, it actually has dark, like dak brown shades, which i want to change to lighter smth like light yellow, i tried replace color, hue/sat//light but the effect is not realistic like an actual diamond looks, it is loosing its luminosity. i even tried with magic wand tool, by selecting each darker part and changing color, but it does'nt look realistic either. I would be very grately if somebody could help me with this. I m using Photoshop 7.0

1) Select the area you want to change. Don't do the whole diamond in one go but a facet at a time.

2) Change hue and saturation to the color you want. Make each facet a different color. Not like red and blue but you may want one facet to be a pink to offset the yellow on the facet next to it.

3) Reset a combination of contrast and lightness to your liking. Usually this means cranking up the contrast and compensating by 'dimming the light' a bit.

4) Overlay a new layer and use your spay-paint to highlight area's. Bring to whole highlighted layer to 50- 70% transoerancy.

This also works the other way around to bring some subtle shading back to your diamond. Use a dark but bright blue.

I was looking for this exact same question today. I typed in free graphics programs into google and there are some out there that are supposed to be similar to Photoshop. I found Dogwaffle, Draw Plus, GIMP, Inkscape, and Mayura Draw amongst others. I haven't tried any of them out yet.

yeah there are, they aren't as good but still pretty useful. There is picaso 2 made by google. Its basically a quick fix to any photo issues and is a lot of fun. Most digital cameras come with photo editing software too.
I don't know of any, but i would not mind finding out if there is something like that out there.

You need the Arabic / Middle East version of Photoshop. I know you don't want to hear that but that's the only answer.

UPDATE:

It's not enough to switch fonts / system languages. Most Middle East languages are read right-to-left, not left-to-right as it is in English; therefore, properly laying out text in a design program requires a program that supports RTL languages.

Which means you need to purchase the Arabic version of Photoshop.

tbh it is a really good piece of work. the problems are tht u have used posterize or a filter to get rid of the little mistakes, most people do at the beggining dnt worry, your on a good start and by the work i can see you doing really well with photoshop. Try typing photoshop tutorials on google. theyre are so many out there. Also on the picture, try to make the background more clearer as it looks like 2 blue circles now.

If you wish to do the B%26W colorizing technique of a hand painted image from last week, that would be fine, in fact, it would be preferred. It would be great to take a self-portrait and treat it that way, or even, an photo portrait of someone else.

So, create a cool old time novel cover, with your color corrected and retouched images and type, and turn it in to the dropbox. Make it 5x7 inches, 72 ppi, rgb. The color of the background can be what ever you want to make it and I want you to save it as an un-flattened (meaning all of the layers are saved too), Photoshop file (.PSD).

You must submit it in this form 鈥?no exceptions:

1. 11x14

2. 150 DPI

3. RGB

4. TIF

5. Flattened and all Alpha Channels discarded

wow. Dude, this is going to take lots of steps. I'm going to tell you a simple sepia way.

1. Select corrected photo you want to use. Should not need any more repairs.

2. Go to image, select mode, select grayscale to remove color.

3. To tint the image go back into image, then mode then select RGB (pretty much reversing what you did in step 2)

4. Depending on What version of PS you have it changes so I will give you a universal method. Open levels. (control L). Where it says 'channels' select red and start playing around with the middle slider to get a color you want.

5. Pick a font you want to use, make your font size about 36 point and type away. You should now have 2 layers.

See if that helps out as a start.

Assuming you have a digital photo to use for your silhouette, open the photo. It will open in a "background" layer. Create another layer over that. (Click on the little paper icon on the layers pallet, lower right corner) You will still see the photo below the new layer. On the NEW layer, use the lasso tool to carefully outline the subject you wish to silhouette. Once you have closed the selection, fill it with black. Delete the background layer below. Done.

Draw your page in photoshop.

Draw on the links you want, draw in any content you want, cut and paste images you want, drag them to where you want them, all with photoshop.

Draw in an empty space, for any content you want to show, from the default myspace page (such as the music player, blogs, friends).

Once you have done this, then go here, to learn how to turn your drawing into a myspace div overlay:

You must be on another layer, check it. Next advise why don't you use morphing tool, you will be able to do as per imagination. Morph button is their lower down in tools pallette.

As noted by "drarunkrsinha", you may be on the wrong layer. Make sure you're on the layer with the image.

Another possiblity is that the feather amount for the selection tool is set too high.

I'm not sure what this kind of art would be classified in but, i've seen people portraits, taken with a camera, and someone has gone in with photoshop or illustrator, and added cool filters and layers to random different spots in the photo. Hello i am a digital artist who has became interested in 3d modeling and rendering. However i am short on money and cannot upgrade my computer for doing very alberate works. As you see i downloaded blender and the more detailed the model gets the slower my computer runs.

The best i can do with blender is something out of a Nintendo 64 game with if i can figure out textures or meshes (i'm not sure what they are called) That just be fine.

Once you install it by unzipping it into your C:\Windows\Fonts directory.

Start with a transparent background. Take your paintbrush and make it very large. With black put 1 dot to make a big circle. You can make that big dot 3 dimensional by using your filters and adding lighting effects. Once you have the 3d orb add the text.

After you have it how you want it go to layer then merge visible. Copy and paste it to your original backing.

I hope this helps I wasn't formally trained just learned by doing.

You click install or "run" to install it.

* click on start button and click on run

* type control panel and hit enter

* doucle click add remove programs

* the add remove dialog window opens, look for Photoshop CS3 or any other version of photoshop, if there is one, remove it by clicking change/ remove button.

* Now insert the PS CS3 disk and if it autoplays, follow onscreen instructions... if it does not autoplay, browse into the disk and look for an icon that says "setup" or "install" etc. Double click it. Then follow the onscreen instructions.

* If its a cracked/ pirated disk, then it might ask u for a registration no. Browse into the disk again and look for a folder called "Crack". Go inside that folder and look for any text document, there will be some files and a text document inside crack folder. Open the text document and follow its instructions to crack Photoshop. :D

Now it should work. It does when I do it:D

Besides the suggestion to look for basic tutorials on the internet, you might want to get a couple of books or take an introductory workshop like at a local community college.

Some books to consider: Photoshop for Dummies (make sure you get the book that matches whatever version you are getting.) the Dummies books aren't really "Dumb" they are designed to help regular people who want to learn but aren't sure how or where to start. Another good one is the Visual Quickstart Guide. A little harder but really good is the Deke McClelland One-to-one book. All of these you can get on Amazon.com.

Your friend must have lots of money. The full/latest version, Photoshop CS3 runs around $600. There is a latest version of the consumer product, Photoshop Elements, which is pretty good too, but it's a lot less expensive.

It depends on what you want to do... After Effects really doesn't have much to offer the general consumer and is more targetted to professional artists, but Elements has some nice stuff in it.

I would avoid any of the " ... For Dummies" books. They're typically not that good. I unfortunately don't have any good suggestions for you, though, as far as Photoshop books go.

First off, CS3 is all you need. Elements is actually a cheaper, chopped down version of CS3. After Effects is a program used to create special effects in movies and what not...so ya don't need that either.

I would also not recommend the "..for dummies" book. It isn't bad, but there are MUCH better options. I would suggest buying two books: Adobe's Classroom in a Book and Photoshop: Studio Techniques (by Ben Willmore).

Classroom in a Book will get you started on the basics very quickly. Once you get through a few chapters, start tackling Studio Techniques.

I am a member of deviantart, and I am proud of my art, but most of them are traditionally made, and these days I get tired of drawing traditionally because:

2.) It's harder to draw and make art with

The icon tells you which program a file is associated with. Like .doc with Word, and .xls with Excel etc.

You can't add an additional front directly. But if you should download a font type onto your PC, it would be accessible from photoshop.
You cannot just add the font that came with the file. Unless you go in a create the font from scratch, using that images as a template, there is no way to add that font. You will have to track down the font and add that font to your system.

The image file does not contain all the fonts that were used. If you have the name of the font, try searching google for the font name or for 'free fonts' there are hundreds of them out there.

I'm pretty sure it's your print settings, and possibly a printer malfunction. make sure the paper you are using is image quality paper, and set the printer options using the 'advance options' button that should be in the print window that opens up when you tell it to print. Make sure the option 'print to edge' are checked.

try using some filters like gaussian blurr

you can also use the burn, smudge, sponge, sharpen tools as brushes to apply manually. i great technique is to use a pen tablet with photoshop. you can achieve results super quick. there is no one button or one filter to run. each case will be unique and probably require many steps.
Just keep playing around until you get the result you want.

you could try this yourself with gimp, select both images being used, check that they are the same format and resolution , like jpg at 72+ pixels, open background image of airplane, then open person, select all of image and paste over plane image in new layer, then erase around person, and zoom in for detail editing, move and resize or adjust color and contrast, save as xcf, then save copy as jpg,

G.I.M.P. (GNU Image Manimulation Program) is free, open source image editing software that runs on all platforms.

You can do almost all of the things you can do in photoshop and it will open *.psd file.

I have used GIMP in the past and found that it was able to do everything I needed. The menus and options take a bit of getting used to if you are familiar with Photoshop, but there is plenty of help and tutorials online.

You just need to look carefully on list with file formats.

Click on "Save as..." button, and then in opened window choose JPG format.

That depends on what version of photoshop you have! Try save as and then select the file format in the dropdown!
I know in my photoshop I DO have a jpg option, when you do a "save as" its in the pull down extension menu.
For starters, when you said "I tried save, save and save optimized" that means that you are using ImageReady and not Photoshop (this one don't have a Save Optimized option)

To have a jpg format as an option, go to menu Window %26gt; Optimize and then slect from the Optimize panel Format; there you will find JPEG options, set your image and then use File%26gt; Save Optimized as...

That's all you need to do.

The software is amazing, and has lots of useful tools. As for showing my artwork, I am not an artist, I mainly use Photoshop to edit blemishes or certain things in my pictures at home (Example - I have a picture of my friend and he wants to print it out full size, but he has a big pimple on the end of his nose, so I go in edit the picture, and pimple is gone, at least on the picture hahaha.)

You should first select a part of the picture you want to paste into with the marquee selection tool in either shape or freehand. That way the picture you are pasting with will only insert into the selected area and not just over the whole picture. It's easy enough once you've practised it a few times. You may have to re-size the picture file you are pasting with to better fit into the picture you are pasting into. Got that? Good luck!

PS, if you paste into the photo the pasted bit should remain floating until you click off the photo or merge layers in the menu. Perhaps you need some additional tutoring in Photoshop. See if you can gain access to a manual in a local public library.

you can select coloring in psp too. it depends if you use it alot and you are really going to learn to use everything. then photoshop is nicer. there's also photoshop elements which is comparable to paintshop pro. Once i started using cs2 i never went back. before that i had psp and elements and id switch back and forth. all three use alot of the same plugins which is nice. you can do alot with psp or elements but if you can afford it and are really going to take the time to learn it get photoshop

if youre unsure get psp or elements. except i heard the latest elements 6 i think it is, was kind of a bust so if you get it you might go for 5. but theres nothing at all wrong with psp either its a great program

Well, it depends on how much you are willing to spend for the software. PSP only costs about $90 while Photoshop costs $600+. I'll stick with PSP, thank you very much.

Well Photoshop has more features than gimp, but Gimp is also pretty good. The only thing it lacks is a decent eraser, it doesn't have a magic eraser or a background eraser, but it does have a magic wand which kind of helps. but anyways, Gimp is less complicated than photoshop. You can still make animated gifs and stuff. but in my opinion, Gimp is pretty good compared to photoshop, considering the fact that you don't have to pay for Gimp and it's not just a free trial. And gimp has features too that Photoshop doesn't have like film strips and coffee stains.

Too much too mention as it all depends on what youreally want to do with it..Gimp and other software like Picasa are as good as they are worth, and considering they are free they are verygood. If your looking to create high quality images and serious proffesional editing then Photoshop would be up your street..

I am basically a hobbyist with intermediate experience with Photoshop...a novice with Illustrator. Using CS3

I am trying to take an (pretty complex) image of an old b/w engraving (scanned into Photoshop) and move it into Illustrator, create a live trace then color it as a vector graphic.

I want to try to take advantage of Illust. live paint and probably blends to replace many of the black engraving lines that were used for shadowing.

The original engraved image is pretty complex, consisting of at least 9 distinct areas.

Where do I start? I think I want to make each of those areas a separate layer, work with them individually and then put them together into one image.

Do I separate the layers in Photoshop or Illustrator? How do I remove or clear the engraved lines (shading) within the areas I want to paint so I can blend for the effect I want to achieve?

I have been spinning my wheels trying to get started...not knowing which program to start this project in.

I would separate the layers in Photoshop rather than Illustrator. It's easier with the layers in Photoshop.

What's probably going to look the best is if you take the pen tool %26 just open the image up in Illustrator %26 redraw the image. (Lock the bottom image you are drawing on top of %26 trace it with the pen tool) Draw it with the pen tool on top of the image(zoom in for better accuracy). It may take some time but it will look 10 times better than the live trace.

Live trace is just "Ok". I've never had much luck making the images look great converting them with trace, even when tweeking all the settings.
