Not weird. You have the file association that causes that. ~
The icon tells you which program a file is associated with. Like .doc with Word, and .xls with Excel etc.

just change the format of ur file when saving it make sure u do tht CORRECT if the icon is photoshop then ur file is not jpeg but photoshop format .PSD
