I have photoshop cs3 extended do i need other programs for it?

Like do i need after effects, elements ? Also i dont know how to use photoshop at all. But ive been messing around with it and i might buy photoshop cs3 for dummies. is that any good?

It depends on what you want to do... After Effects really doesn't have much to offer the general consumer and is more targetted to professional artists, but Elements has some nice stuff in it.



I would avoid any of the " ... For Dummies" books. They're typically not that good. I unfortunately don't have any good suggestions for you, though, as far as Photoshop books go.

First off, CS3 is all you need. Elements is actually a cheaper, chopped down version of CS3. After Effects is a program used to create special effects in movies and what not...so ya don't need that either.



I would also not recommend the "..for dummies" book. It isn't bad, but there are MUCH better options. I would suggest buying two books: Adobe's Classroom in a Book and Photoshop: Studio Techniques (by Ben Willmore).



Classroom in a Book will get you started on the basics very quickly. Once you get through a few chapters, start tackling Studio Techniques.
