Programs similar to Photoshop?

What programs are similar to photoshop that are free and compatible with Vista?

Programs similar to Photoshop?anti virus

As mentioned in the previous answer, GIMP (www.gimp.org) is a very suitable replacement for photoshop. Not only does it possess all the functionality of photoshop, but is open-source, meaning, in simple terms, 100% free to download and use without EVER having to pay anything. No trial periods or anything. This is the description given on the site:

"GIMP is an acronym for GNU Image Manipulation Program. It is a freely distributed program for such tasks as photo retouching, image composition and image authoring.

It has many capabilities. It can be used as a simple paint program, an expert quality photo retouching program, an online batch processing system, a mass production image renderer, an image format converter, etc.

GIMP is expandable and extensible. It is designed to be augmented with plug-ins and extensions to do just about anything. The advanced scripting interface allows everything from the simplest task to the most complex image manipulation procedures to be easily scripted."

I say give it a shot, its free, so it doesn't hurt anything to try it out.

There is paintshop pro (free trail somewhere) and GIMP (http://www.gimp.org/). I found that Photoshop is better than both those.

I don't know about compatibility.
I can't say about Vista compatibility, but you can check out these software for sure:

If they are compatible with Vista, then great!! And even if they aren't, they will become Vista compatible soon!!
