Photoshop is the program. It's made by Adobe. It's expensive but you can check their website and see if they have a free trial.

You can also get decent results from Paint Shop Pro. It's cheaper and I know that they have a 30 day free trial...just go to the Corel website and download it.

If you're looking for something that's totally free, Paint.net is decent. It has a lot of the features of the expensive programs (but not all) and you can save your artwork in a variety of formats.

I've used all three, and I prefer Paint Shop Pro. Photoshop really doesn't seem at all intuitive, and paint.net was too basic for my needs. There are some things that Photoshop does better than any other program, but it's so complicated and does so many things that I don't think I'll ever figure them all out.

If you know how to use newsgroups, you can probably find paint shop pro or photoshop cs2 in alt.binaries.multimedia.utilities
