If you have a relativley detailed line drawing and want to create a tracing of it in either Photoshop or Illustrator - which program is better for this and what is the best procedure for doing it?

There's a tutorial on this at the link below which contains images for guidance. The best program to use is Adobe Illustrator CS2 or CS3 which both contain Live Trace. Live Trace used to be a standalone program called Adobe Streamline. This was improved and integrated into Illustrator, and now it copes pretty well with photos and very well with line art.

Illustrator. Use Live Trace to automatically trace a drawing. Very fast and easy.
Illustrator is easier, you can use live trace if you have the CS2 version or later. Sometimes it does not work all that well, but you can try!
