Photoshop Poster?

I want to create a poster in photoshop that I would like to have printed and framed. Is there a standard size and resolution that I should use? Where could I have something like this printed and what would be the cost?

The first person gave you good advice. I'd like to add one or two things. Check with small local printers, not the big office supply stores and copy shops. Sometimes the little guys will give you a better deal, and even do it while you wait. They are often more flexible regarding the file type (although few if any will print from a native Photoshop file; make sure you use a flattened image, not a layered image!) and also how you give them the file (for example, bringing it in on a jump drive).

Again, regarding the small local printers, ask if they can print full bleed for you. If they can, and you pick a smallish standard size like 11 x 17 inches, what they will print on it a 12 x18 inch sheet. You will have a white border that can be framed over, so that you lose little if any of the full image.

And, as the other person recommended, set your resolution at 300 dpi. Do realize that Photoshop files, even flattened and saved as jpegs or pdfs, will be relatively large.

Good luck! Enjoy your poster creation.
